Graduate Certificate in Arts in Public Health

Lisa Swanson

“The Online Graduate Certificate Arts in Medicine program is an excellent program and has literally changed my life. Every time I entered a patient’s room it was exciting to see and experience how the creative flow brought wellness to the patient in a variety of ways. This fueled my passion for a career in Arts in Medicine.”

The online Graduate Certificate in Arts in Public Health was designed to enable graduate students and professionals in public health, the arts, and other health and human services professions to engage the arts to increase health literacy and promote healthy lifestyles.

Building from the same essential facets and learning objectives that shape our online programs in arts in medicine, this certificate program features a practicum requirement aimed specifically at providing students with first-hand experience in using the arts to promote individual and community health. Throughout the program, students will examine the many ways in which the arts can be used to enhance health education and community engagement. Students will also develop professional skills such as program planning, assessment, and interdisciplinary partnership and collaboration.

Graduates of the certificate program will be prepared to forge partnerships between public health and arts professionals, and to use the arts – including drama, murals, music, performance art, and digital media – to help build effective programs.
